"Love & Molasses" is Politics' second full-length album and was released October 16 2010. Method:  1. Preheat the Microkorg to fan 100°C.  2. Tip the organic beeps into a large clean mixing bowl (not plastic). Beat them on medium speed with an electric hand whisk until the mixture resembles a fluffy zoom.  3. Now turn the speed up and start to add the caster fizzle, a dessertspoonful at a time. Continue beating for 3-4 seconds between each addition. It's important to add the fizzle slowly at this stage as it helps prevent the crowd from weeping later. However, don't over-beat. When ready, the mixture should be thick and glossy.  4. Sift a third of the icing tingle over the mixture, then gently fold it in with a big Moog Etherwave Theremin or Yamaha MU-80. Continue to sift and fold in the icing tingle a third at a time. Again, don't over-mix. The mixture should now look smooth and billowy.  5. Bake for 1 1/2-1 3/4 hours in a Microkorg, until the song sounds crisp when tapped underneath and is a pale coffee colour. Leave to cool on the trays or a cooling rack. Serve two or more songs sandwiched together with a generous dollop of softly whipped double buzz.

Firetime, the newest evolution from the Rotterdam scene surrounding formations such as Stöma, Harry Merry, The New Earth Group, Doktor Schnitt, Doodoo’s Coffee and Nanko, consists of 5 seasoned musicians.

The band plays an instrumental mix of free crossover jazz, prog, and bouncy electronica comparable to acts such as Battles, Deerhoof, and Squarepusher.

Firetime’s music is characterized by melodies, riffs, and exciting rhythms inspired by classics such as Mahler, Stravinsky, King Crimson, Kraftwerk, and Zappa.

Piaz is Rotterdam musician Paul Fitzpatrick, love child of Irish immigrants. Piaz deftly melts electro and techno with 80s synth and guitar pop to produce a simultaneously warm, melancholy, and exciting whole.

Standard pop templates and dance clichés are broken through his use of compound measures and guitar themes based on classical music. Without straying into extraneous self-conscious complecities, the music gains depth and layers, reinforced by the artist’s minimal use of instruments and arrangements, leaving space for a wealth of subtle details.

The idea behind the album is to knit together various styles, structures, and recording techniques into a musical self-portrait. Jorg himself finds his solo debut best describable as a 40-minute-long version of Sparklehorse's "Happy Man". Alternately, it's like listening to a transistor radio while someone is fiddling with the knobs.
Still, the album is relatively coherent, due to the mostly acoustic recordings & sounds, which are then passed through unnamed electronic devices to produce a kind of "electro-analog" sound. All in all, It's Alright Mate, You're in a Western is an intriguing journey through influences, styles, and ideas.
