POLITICS

2008

Politics are on all inclusive holiday.

Politics is also (again) resturcturing their site, visit the old version, Politics web 3.4, here.

Bio:

In essence Politics play indie/rock/pop-songs. They somehow don’t, though. Fans and reviewers have compared them to all kinds of bands and artists ranging from The Velvet Underground to Giant Sand and Spoon.

Crossing the implied boundaries, Politics play songs that can go any which way. They blossom with unexpected changes and unexpected text. Add a messy splash of ragged poppiness and some bluegrass harmonies and you’re getting close.

One reviewer possibly said it best when he wrote “Politics play an impossible combination of broken rock like Pavement and stadium rock like U2, while managing to still sound like Politics: a good portion of silliness without neglecting the fair dose of deep shit”.

2006 saw Politics record their debut CD, working with producer and engineer Remko Schouten (Pavement, Mono, Coparck, Caesar). The CD, entitled “Hands Off My Riot”, has been released on Laterax Recordings on May 19th 2007. After this, Politics was chosen Local Hero of June 2007 by LiveXS and Ondergrond Topper in leading Dutch music mag Oor.

Politics started up two years ago by playing two Live in your Liviginrooms and De Melkweg, and have since played on bills with bands like Alamo Race Track, Bettie Serveert, and Moss.

Their first single, “Borders (Even if it Takes All Night)”, was chosen Rotterdam single of the week last summer. We consider their current pomotional single “Waiting for the Summer” the offi cial anthem of this spring. Word.
